The cable ferry C.F. James Apetegon was placed back in service after being stretched, widened, refurbished and re-powered. The ferry is owned by Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation (MIT). International Maritime Consultants in North Vancouver BC were the project engineers and project managers.

The John Deere 200 hp power unit powers the hydraulic system. Its main function is to power the ferry’s cable drum/wheel that pulls the ferry across the lake, as well as the vehicle loading ramp. We also supplied a Kubota-driven KS1200 Powerline generator set that operates the ship’s electrical load.

This was supplied by our Winnipeg branch though HyPower Systems. The unit drives a Sauer Danfoss series 90 variable volume Hydrostatic Drive.
